healthy lifestyle programme- agatha hildgo and Jeff Allen on the 5th of September 2017
on Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of September agatha and Jeff came into us and spoke about the importance of fitness and health.
jeff was in the army and is a personal trainer and agatha is a nutritionist and they are from Waterford.
agatha made us aware of the amount of suger we take in without realization. I learnt what an empty calorie food is, it’s a food high in sugar containing no nutrient such as mars bar
we were put into groups and had to play games such as tug of war and elimination. In elimination we had to run from cone to cone and whoever came last within a group was then eliminated.
Agatha told us what to eat for a healthy diet and I learnt that exercise, sleep, diet, work, relaxation and friends/family are key to a healthy lifestyle.
we learnt a lot about group dynamics and it was to be more respectful within a group e.g showing up late to class disrupts the class it was made up of storming, norming and also preforming.
we were shown a circle with 6 factors ;
1— oblivion
2—awakening
3—proper planning
4—perfect action
5—positive upkeep
6—revert
and this was called the circle of change.
i really enjoyed this workshop it was very fun and a good way to bond with the whole year, it was good to be more aware of what we eat and secret sugars, it has made me more aware of what types of food I eat and to do more exercise so keep healthy and to also relax and spend time with friends and family
